WHAT IS JOCK IN A BOX?
One of the most important things to Holmes is that the Freak Show give back to the West Michigan communities that makes the show what it is. And what better time of the year to give back than Thanksgiving and Christmas.

So each November, all the Freak Show members brave the cold and move the show and their lives into a "box". They live, eat, sleep and broadcast in this box while asking everyone to help them fill an entire truck up with food for needy West Michigan families for the holidays.

The catch? They can't leave the box until the entire truck is full. No showers, no clubs, no warm bed, nada. Just the Jocks in a Box.

In November 2005, we were able to feed 250 West Michigan families after spending almost three days in the box and enduring some freakish 55+ mile an hour winds on the last day. (R.I.P. to Big Mac's tent).

In November 2006, we were able to feed almost 400 families after just two and half days in the box. This time, we were lucky enough to get the first snow of the year on day one and temperatures below freezing the whole time.

Now in November 2007, we'll do it all over again. Everyone's support has been so great in the past that we're setting the goal at 500 families this year !

Last years setup in front of Family Fare at 60th & Kalamazoo. The wire you see to the POD was the ISDN line we used to broadcast back to our downtown studios. It was provided by AT&T right to the box.

WHERE DOES THE FOOD GO?

The best part of this is that all your donations stay right here in our own West Michigan communities !! Each year, the excellent staff at Catholic Charities of West Michigan have worked very hard to distribute all food we collect to as many needy West Michigan families as possible for Thanksgiving and or Christmas meals.

Catholic Charities of West Michigan (formerly known as Catholic Social Services) helps West Michigan families of all faiths. Click here for their website

This year, our friends at AT&T will provide a live webcam from the box that you'll be able to view 24/7 here on wsnx.com. Plus they will once again provide the connections we need to be able to broadcast the Freak Show live from the box. (We're even hoping for some sort of blogging capability this year.) We can't thank AT&T enough for their support of Jock In A Box !!

PODS (Portable On Demand Storage) will once again be providing the "box" we will be living in and broadcast from the entire time.

For the third year now, Two Men and a Truck are providing the truck we have to fill up with the non-perishable food donations.

Thank you to Buffalo Wild Wings Celebration location and iHop's Knapp & The Beltline location for providing food for the Freaks while in the box.

And thank you to Celebration Cinema North for use of the parking lot and to Meijer's for use of the giant spotlight !!!
